This site is designed to assist Southern Maryland consumers with the very hard decision of moving forward with a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy. As with anything else in life, the first question that should come to your mind as you read this post, or any other for that matter, is why should I listen to this guy? In the hopes of answering that question I will attempt to provide you some background on me that will allow you to make an informed decision about whether reading this blog is worth your time, and just as important for me, whether calling me to schedule your free consultation is worth your time.
There is no denying that the decision to file bankruptcy is difficult and weighs heavily on people. It is a drastic step but it is a step that does not mean the end of the world. As the home page of this site notes, Bankruptcy is not the end of the road, it is the start of a new journey. Put another way, Bankruptcy is a fresh start. Much like hitting the reset button on your computer, bankruptcy allows you to reset your finances and keep some debts, usually your car loan and/or home loan, after filing. I am very much aware of the emotional toll this decision takes on my clients and I am here to assist with this process.
I have been a practicing attorney since 2002 and I have been practicing bankruptcy since 2007. I have extensive experience filing cases under both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. This experience includes a variety of bankruptcy related case work including adversary proceedings, trustee negotiation, creditor negotiation, cram down motions, interest rate motions, and student loan discharge work. I have argued bankruptcy issues through the appellate system. I am fully capable of assisting with every aspect of a bankruptcy case.
One of the most important things that distinguishes this firm from other bankruptcy firms is that your case is handled exclusively by an attorney and that attorney is me. There is little to no paralegal involvement in the case processing. This is done without any additional cost to you and it insures that a case is completed correctly and with no wasted effort. This also allows for my bankruptcy experience and knowledge to be applied throughout the case process in real time as opposed to at the end as a mere review step. More importantly, this allows me to fully understand and participate in this process with you to make it as smooth and painless a process as possible.
Each week I will post a new topic, generally on bankruptcy matters but I will also post on recent changes in the bankruptcy code as those changes come about from time to time. My next post will focus on why it is important to hire a bankruptcy attorney to assist you with your case, regardless of how easy or straight forward you think your case may be. I hope you find my future posts informative and helpful in making this very important decision.
